Hoping to make a fresh start, she moves in with her older brother, and when her mother's world is rocked by a mysterious ailment, Riley and her brother must learn to step up and put their differences aside, as they take on the responsibility of caring for their mother, and a dog named Sally.

Riley's parents and her brother have to struggle to make it through the first chapter. They come across with a bad attitude, and there's lots of fight and crying and yelling. They just can't seem to get along, which is sad to say, because this is the first chapter, and they are supposed to be a family. Riley's family is not like any of the other families that she has ever met, and as the story goes on, the problems that they have seem to get more and more complicated. This is not very interesting to me, because it's all about their family, and what they have to do. I am not a family person, so this was not very interesting to me. The fact that they have to do it by themselves also is not very interesting to me.
After the first chapter of Riley's book, it gets a little better. Riley is adjusting to life in San Francisco, and by the middle of the chapter, she is speaking English pretty well. Riley is running a dog-training camp for children, and she is not very successful at it. She is not doing a very good job with the training camp. There is a lot of yelling and a lot of frustration. I don't know how she can do this job, because she doesn't seem very well-trained herself.
There is a lot of sadness, and a lot of crying, in Riley's life. Riley's relationship with her brother is not what it should be, because she is constantly arguing with him. I believe that people in relationships need to be able to get along. I don't think that Riley is doing very good at being a sister to her brother. Riley's mother is very sick, and when Riley's mom is sick, she and Riley have to get along. Riley's mom is very sick when Riley is 16, and she gets a dog that she calls Sally. Sally is a two-year-old Dachshund, and she is very cute. Riley's mom is really sick when she is 16, and Riley's brother is taking care of her and Sally.
